Have you always wanted to play the violin, but don't know where to start? Maybe you already know how to play but want to advance faster under the guidance of a professional violinist? This class is geared towards students who are looking for a more individualized approach in the form of one-on-one private lessons. I absolutely love music and nothing brings me greater joy than sharing the gift of music with my students. We will work on elements of violin playing such as technique, tone production, intonation, musicality, note reading and music theory, and much more. Each lesson will be personalized to meet your child's individual needs. We can schedule the lessons at your convenience, whether that means weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed. Students should already have their own violin and bow. Please refer to the "Learner Supply List" below for more information. I am a full time professional violinist in the Sarasota Orchestra and have toured with artists like Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, and Michael Bublé. I have been teaching the violin both online and in person for over a decade to students of all ages and experience levels from 5 years old to adult. My current and past students have won auditions to get into prestigious arts high schools as well as their All State youth orchestras and have even won positions in regional orchestras. I believe that every student has the potential to learn the violin with the right instruction. Every child learns in their own unique way, so I tailor my teaching style to meet the needs of each individual student. My goal is to create a friendly and encouraging environment so your child can learn and grow confidently as a musician. *Please feel free to check out my Trial Lesson listing to schedule a trial prior to enrolling, if you would like! ******* PRIVATE LESSON POLICIES ******* 1. Rescheduling: Please let me know at least a week before (or even earlier if possible) if you have a planned absence and will need to skip or reschedule your lesson. This allows me enough time to rearrange my other students if needed or fill the gap in my schedule with a new student. 2. Lateness: If you are late to a private lesson, I will wait 10 minutes before ending the meeting. If you are having Zoom issues, please send me a message or post in the classroom to let me know and I will wait for the entire class period since I know you are trying to enter the classroom. No refunds will be given for late arrivals. 3. Missed classes: Please make sure you are subscribed to Outschool's class reminder emails or put the date and time in your calendars. No refunds or makeups will be given for forgotten classes. Of course emergencies happen and will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. 4. Technical issues like power outages or internet issues can usually be refunded by Outschool directly through their "Happiness Guarantee" by emailing support@outschool.com.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their violin playing through a detailed, tailored approach based on their individualized needs. Learning the violin simultaneously exercises and hones many other subjects and life skills such as math, physics, art, problem solving, and self-motivation.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
For young learners or early beginners, it is extremely helpful to have the parent sit in on the lessons. At a young age, it’s so important for parents to act as the “home teacher” to help their child practice between lessons. I will also guide the parent through the process of tuning the violin.
Supply List
Students should already have a violin and bow that is set up and in playing condition. They should also have rosin, a pencil, and any sheet music or method books they are currently studying. I will either provide or make recommendations for other sheet music or method books as needed.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
