Class Experience
Private lessons for violin or viola and fiddle for young musicians. Beginners welcome, as well as students with more experience. We will focus on playing technique, posture, ear training and listening, and building repertoire in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Posture skills include: Bow grip Wrist movements Playing in the correct location on the strings Holding the instrument correctly on the shoulder Correct finger position on the fingerboard Technique skills include: Pizzicato-plucking the strings Legato-long sooth bows Staccato and Spicatto - short bow strokes Intonation-listening and playing in tune
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to hold their instrument correctly, play using the bow and build repertoire and technique on their instrument.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
For very young learners, having a parent nearby to listen to instructions and help out is ideal but not required.
Supply List
Violin or viola in good playing condition. Rosin for the bow. Shoulder rest or shoulder sponge.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
