Class Experience

Learn how to play the violin or viola with a professional violist/violinist!

Whether you're a complete beginner or have been playing for years, this class is for you! Private lessons are designed for each individual student's pace and learning needs.

Learning an instrument is a great hobby, and a wonderful way to build communication skills! We talk a lot about how to communicate through our music to tell stories and share our thoughts with others.

I believe that music should be fun, so I work with students to be sure they're learning music they truly enjoy. Lessons are not babysitting or busy work--please only sign up your student if they're interested in playing the violin or viola. This makes the experience positive for everyone involved!

*To schedule, please send me a message and we can work out a lesson time that works for us both!
Learning Goals
In each lesson, we'll cover various topics including:
-Holding the viola/violin and bow
-Good playing posture
-How to read music
-How to make a good sound on the viola
-Music theory
-Music history
-Assigned music including exercises and songs your student enjoys!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Elizabeth! I teach online music classes with themes kids love. I'm a violist with a Master of Music degree from The Hartt School, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory. I also teach private viola, violin, and piano lessons.

I believe music helps us communicate with others, since it's a universal language. Learning music helps us learn about ourselves, and how to express ourselves. I love using acting metaphors when teaching music--we're really sharing a story with others!

I love Disney, Taylor Swift, Harry Potter, and cats. I also love cooking and making crafts!
