Class Experience
Class Experience Our course will follow the same basic design every day. 1. In this course we will focus on: ----Building phonemic awareness skills- specifically blending and segmenting sounds in words. ----Phonics- matching letters to letter sounds. ----Decoding- Blending letters together to read Silent e Syllable words. ***Silent e syllable words are words that have a long vowel sound because there is a vowel, followed by a consonant, followed by a silent e. Ex. wake, hide, tune, Pete,...
Students will be able to blend and segment 3 and 4 sounds words. Studens will warm up by reading CVC words. Students will be able read CVCe words (all vowels included). Students will be able to write CVCe words. Students will be able to read CVCe words within sentences and texts.
-A document will be provided, which needs to be printed, for the 5 day course: ------I would suggest getting 5 sheet protectors. Place the pages in the sheets protectors back to back (each day is two pages so it should be double sided in the sheet protector). -Dry Erase Marker and Eraser -(optional)- Other writing tools- pencil, magna doodle, whatever your child feels more comfortable writing with. They can write directly on the document (in the sheet protector) or they can do the writing portion using another writing tool.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
