Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
In these 60 min, one-on-one sessions, I meet with your student to provide tailored support in Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology, or Physics to Physics Honors. This class is ideal for learners in 9th to 12th grade science. My goal is to meet students where they are and help them tackle the specific challenges they're facing in science. Whether your teen needs help filling in content gaps, improving organizational skills, strengthening math in science, reviewing homework, preparing for exams, or building important science skills, I’m here to support them. Some of the skills we tackle include: -Organization and time management -Filling gaps in content -Math help specific to science topics -Homework help and study strategies -Exam prep to boost confidence and performance -Building essential science skills for long-term success Some of the concepts we can work on together include but are not limited to, the following: Chemistry and AP Chemistry Topics: -Properties of Matter: Types of substances, chemical/physical properties -Atoms and the Periodic Table: Atomic structure, emission spectra, electron configurations, periodic trends -Nuclear Chemistry: Fission/fusion, half-life, nuclear equations -Chemical Bonding: Types of bonds, naming and writing chemical formulas, VSEPR, intermolecular forces -Chemical Reactions: Predicting products, balancing equations -The Mole and Stoichiometry: Mole conversions, limiting reactants, yields -Thermochemistry: Specific heat, heating/cooling curves -Gas Laws: Ideal, Boyle’s, Charles’, Dalton’s Law -Solutions, Acids, and Bases: Molarity, solubility, % dissociation -Reaction Rates and Equilibrium: Collision theory, ICE tables Physics Topics: -Kinematics: 1D/2D motion, vectors -Forces and Motion: Newton’s Laws, gravity -Energy and Momentum: Energy transformations, collisions -Work, Energy, and Power: Machines, mechanical advantage -Waves: Light, optics, sound, electromagnetic radiation -Electricity and Magnetism: Circuits, electromagnets -Nuclear Physics: Fission, fusion, half-life Biology and AP Biology Topics: -Macromolecules, Properties of Water, Enzymes -Cell Structure and Function: Cell types, cell cycle, transport -Changes in Populations: Natural selection, genetic drift -Photosynthesis/Cellular Respiration -Ecology: Matter cycling, environmental change -Heredity: Mendel’s Laws, Punnett Squares, genetics Please feel free to reach out if you need a different day or time, and we can discuss other options!
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their understanding of specific concepts to reach their individual goals in science.
