Assessment
An informal assessment will be made for student level of understanding of the skills taught in class.Class Experience
In this private tutoring session, your student will learn how to use different reading strategies that will help with comprehension of a text. We will also practice reading for fluency. Reading skills include but are not limited to: Organizing Text Making Connections Text Features Recount/Summarize Class Structure *Class will start with a fun warm-up activity to get your student comfortable and ready to learn. *Student will be introduced to reading strategies that will be used during reading to help strengthen comprehension and fluency. *We will then have a discussion before reading a short story to check for prior knowledge on the topic of the text. *Student will then receive a guided reading lesson. During this lesson your student will read a text (using the reading strategies introduced earlier) and will answer comprehension questions during and after reading. We will also focus on reading fluency. *If time allows, We will end the class with another fun exit activity.
