Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Do you have a learner that is ready to read? Or maybe your learner has started school and just needs some individualized attention? I am here to help your beginning ready by giving them what they need and putting them on the path to reading!

Before I start working with your child, we will connect to discuss their current ability and level so I can begin designing a custom lesson for them right away. We will choose a time each week that works best for you so that our times are consistent. We can also plan to meet more often than once per week if you would like. This one-on-one private tutoring course is completely customizable!

I am an Orton-Gillingham trained teacher and will use the Orton-Gillingham method to teach your child phonics in a multi-sensory way that will help your visual, auditory, and/or kinesthetic learner. During our private tutoring sessions, I will incorporate these multi-sensory ways of learning into our lessons to help your child get the most out of every minute they spend with me.

Please contact me about a session during a time not listed. I have many times available and will to do what I can to accommodate your schedule. By signing up for this course that meets three times a week, I have adjusted the price to offer a discount from my usual rates that meet one time per week.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, thank you so much for showing interest in my classes! My name is Heather Horn and I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have been a public school teacher for 14 years in addition to being a substitute teacher for 4 years prior to that. I am passionate about preparing littles for the beginning of their school career! Kindergarten readiness is so important to start them off on the right foot and become successful learners. Teaching kids to read is another passion of mine and such an important milestone in kindergarten, so I've had lots of experience with that. I always want to make learning fun and engaging so they come back for more! Students learn best when having fun, so that's always my goal. We love to smile, laugh, have a good time, and learn some things along the way! I hope to see you in my classroom soon!
