Homework
1 hour per week. There will be one printout each week for homework. Also, kids will have to work on memorizing their spelling words between classes.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 12
This is one of my favorite classes to teach! It allows me time to get to know students on a personal level, find out what they want to learn, where their strengths and weaknesses are, and encourage personal growth! This class is tailored specifically for each student and their own individual needs. The first class is always an assessment period where I get to know them and where they are from an educational standpoint. From there I will build a curriculum for them and work through the lessons on a weekly basis. I make learning fun, as it should be, kids learn best through play, and to be honest, it makes teaching more fun too! Classes will include bingo, MadLibs, creative storytelling, etc. (The new thing is that if kids spell all their spelling words correctly, they get to assign me spelling words!... these are usually diabolically hard words that are not always in English, LOL... But this seems to be the new favorite thing as they all think it's hilarious to watch me struggle through it!) ... I mean, whatever keeps them engaged and having fun, right?? The classes are 30 minutes long, which is enough time for the full lesson and I'll send a homework sheet each week if needed. (Homework is optional, but strongly suggested.) There is no weekly detailed list of what we will cover in each class since this will be individualized for each student.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of all things language arts related including reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills and styles, grammar, spelling, etc.
