Homework
The student should be reading each night for a minimum of 25 minutes. "Ear reading" with programs like Learning Ally, Bookshare, and Audible all count as reading. Your child will also benefit from hearing you model fluent reading. I will occasionally assign passages for oral reading as repeated practice. It is helpful if a family member can listen to the child read and provide feedback.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through Mastery Checks and other informal, ongoing teacher assessments.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
My teaching style is MULTISENSORY, DIAGNOSTIC, and PRESCRIPTIVE. I will quickly review the skills your child has mastered and target my instruction to your child's individual needs. I will teach using flashcards, Google Slides, worksheets, games, and decodable texts.
Topics will include: 1) Phonemic and Phonological Awareness, 2) Six Syllable Types, 3) Syllable Division, 4) Spelling Rules and Common Orthographic Patterns, 5) Oral Reading Fluency Practice, 6) Vocabulary/Comprehension Strategies, 7) Multisensory Grammar/Writing

WEEK 1: I will administer a decoding survey which will show specific areas of strengths and weaknesses.
