Description

Class Experience

The parent will signal to Miss Libby what they want the focus of the class to be (reading, or writing, or a combination of both).
At our first meeting, Miss Libby will assess the learner's knowledge in the area of:
                     1. Alphabet recognition and its corresponding sounds
                     2. Sight word recognition, pre-primer list/primer list
                     3.  Concepts of print (reading)
                     4.  Comprehension of simple texts
                     5. ...

                                READING:
Learners will learn to decode CVC words, recognize pre-primer/primer Dolch Sight words. 
Learners will begin demonstrating beginning reading strategies, to improve reading fluency.
Learners will demonstrate reading comprehension of the texts being read.

                                WRITING:
Learners will practice letter formation.
Learners will begin writing simple CVC words and practice writing pre-primer/primer Dolch Sight words. 
Learners will label pictures (one word), and over time, begin writing simple 3-5 word sentences.


Learners will be reading texts/simple readers/simple poems 
Learners will be practicing a weekly list of sight words.
Learners will practice phonic activities.

Learners will practice letter formation, labeling with one word, practice writing sight words

You will need to print reading and/or writing activities, and therefore working printer is required.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

There will be written communication to the parent (informal assessment)

30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
