US Grade Kindergarten
This is a ongoing reading instruction class, with an instructional approach where the teacher will support the needs of a student using a variety of strategies and readers including but not limited to leveled and phonetic readers. The teacher will also use other phonetic and other resources depending on the needs of the learner. The session will consist of before, during, and after reading activities, which will be used to help increase and activate student comprehension skills. While engaging in this guided reading class, the learner will work on word recognition, reading fluency, phonetic, and comprehension skills. Comprehension skill address will include but or not limited to predicting, sequencing, summarizing, inferencing, comparing/contrasting, and making connections. Prior to the class, the teacher will communicate with the parent via message to address the needs of the learner. If there is not a specific need, the teacher will assess the learner during the first class to determine the reading level and areas of weakness and strengths. This data will be used to determine the skills that will be addressed in future or ongoing classes. This is a great class for beginning readers, struggling reading, or students who lack comprehension and reading fluency skills. This is even a great class for students who seek reading enrichment skills. This class is aimed to address student needs or provide reading enrichment. The first class will consist of an overall assessment to determine the child's instructional strengths, weaknesses, and educational needs. After the data is analyzed, an instructional plan. The instructional plan will be used to drive instruction and create weekly lessons. The second and future classes, will be taught using the instructional plan. The instructional plan will include short-term and long-term goals. This information would be very beneficial prior to your child's first class. 1. Child's current grade 2. Current reading level if available 3. Any concerns from the child's teacher 4. A summary of parent concerns regarding the child's academic abilities, strengths, and weaknesses (if available)
Learning Goals
