Assessment
The learner's progress is assessed by how well the learner participates in the interactions during class.Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Your learner gets to decide what the topic is. Maybe there's a quiz or test coming up. Perhaps some specific problems with the SAT Prep. Or perhaps one of my Boom! Nailed It! Linear Algebra focus topic classes have your student needing extra attention beyond what your student can get in a class with other students. Pick your topic and request a time. It's helpful if you can send me the trouble spots and assignments ahead of time. Here is a list of linear algebra topics that might fit what you need. Choose one of these or bring your own work. Transformations in the Coordinate Plane Similarity, Congruence, and Proofs Part One: Dilations and Similarity Similarity, Congruence, and Proofs Part Two: Congruence and Proofs View Right Triangle Trigonometry Circles and Volume Part One: Angles, Arcs, and Segments Circles and Volume Part Two: Arc Length, Sector Area, and Volume Geometric and Algebraic Connections Part One: Lines, Segments, and Shapes in the Coordinate Plane Geometric and Algebraic Connections Part Two: Modeling with Geometry Applications of Probability This class is for learners in the middle and high school levels needing assistance in Algebra. Send me the material you would like me to work through in this class.
Learning Goals
For the student to increase proficiency, understanding, and speed on the specific Algebra 1 / Pre-Algebra / Geometry / Algebra 2 / Pre-Calculus / SAT Prep topic of their choosing.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
It's a tutoring session. The parents and student determine the content within the constraints of Algebra 1 / Pre-Algebra / Geometry / Algebra 2 / Pre-Calculus / SAT Prep.
Supply List
Learners should bring any materials (e.g.homework, review material) relevant to the topics they would like to discuss during the class. Advance notice of the topics and questions is helpful but is NOT required. Upload the materials and problem sets on the classroom page. By placing them there at least 24 in advance, you can ensure that I will have time to review before the tutoring session. It's helpful to have a calculator.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.
The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.
It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
