Description

Class Experience

Goals can be personalized for each student, but I will encourage the practice and mastery of several different areas for all students. Core areas of study include tab and sheet music reading/notation, playing from listening, chord and scale familiarity, picking and strumming technique, rhythm, and instrument care.
I will provide music and exercises for practice during the week. There’s no requirement for practice each week, but the more you practice and play the better you’ll get! I’ll do my very best to provide exercises and songs that interest each student so that practicing isn’t seen as a chore.
Just your guitar, some paper or a notepad, and a pen/pencil! I will provide music and notation paper as necessary to print out or digitally notate.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No formal assessment will be given, but we will review and play music from each class to continue improving. I will ask students to play songs and exercises for me during class to identify areas that need work. Reviews are very lighthearted and intended to be helpful instead of critical. I always encourage live music performance and/or recording as a wonderful form of personal assessment.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
