1-2 hours per week. I use a free book, "Beginner Singer's Book" to educate singers about the voice, how it works, and various technical skills, and beginner music theory. I create mini videos of vocal exercises and warm ups I'd like for them to practice independently. In addition, I sometimes share YouTube links to vocal warm ups, varying metronome tempos and music instrumental tracks for students to practice to. I don't use YouTube often, because I prefer to create my own content for students to practice and develop what they are learning. I create many of my own materials, and they are safe and "kid approved."

Beginner - Advanced Level

- Depending on skill level of student, all students will be given a personally created plan to help them develop vocally. 
-We will focus on the following topics for all skill levels: vocal technique, vocal health and preservation, sight-singing/reading, rhythmic counting, diction, and vocal performance.
-Our private 30-minute lessons are structured to engage and interact with each student, while focusing on one of each of our weekly topics. Students will be encouraged to learn or study pre-selected songs in which they may practice and develop each skill.
- I will teach each student with a supportive and encouraging approach, while carefully developing them from where they are as a singer. I aim to increase confidence and joy for each student to have an enriching experience!
- I encourage students to practice in between private sessions, and focus on making progress from some assigned activities, as well as focused time studying music and exercises.
- Our lessons will allow for students to comfortably address any questions or concerns, and gain the help they need to reach their personal goals musically. I engage more with younger students through the use of games and fun activities. Older students have opportunities to select favorite songs and spend time working on their music with me one on one.

Learning Goals

In private voice lessons, students will improve vocal technique through proper breath support.

Students will develop their vocal range, master understanding and signing in different vocal registers, building confidence and stamina, refining articulation and selecting appropriate repertoire based on vocal type and experience level.

A weekly printable handout will be issued to students after each lesson to help track what we've learned, what assignments were given to study in between lessons, and what are overall goals are. Students are created to print the handout and create a music binder to help track their progress. The following supplies are encouraged but not required:

- piano/keyboard (if you don't have one, no worries)
- Apps (keyboard app, voice recorder app)
- Mirror
- External Audio Device (wireless or wired speaker for music playback)
- Earphones
- Music Player (smartphone, tablet, computer)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Free Downloadable - Beginner Singer's Book Many of my resources were created by me. I have mini videos of exercises and key moments in lessons that I share to aid students with independent practice. Sheet Music is purchased of all music students study with me. I share it digitally so that students have access to it beyond lessons. Students will complete a "Lesson Reflection" sheet weekly to remember their weekly assignments and record what they are learning. I provide all families with a link to my Google Drive folder for music students, giving them access to resources used in our lessons in the form of audio recordings, video tutorials, and documents. Bachelor's Degree in Music from Fisk University

I am a professional singer/songwriter and pianist with a Bachelor of Music Degree from Fisk University. My principal instrument of study is voice, and my secondary instrument is piano. I have over 25 years of experience teaching both, private music lessons, and in K-12 level schools. I believe in making learning music fun and engaging for students of all ages. I have a significant amount of experience directing choirs and singing on various Praise & Worship teams in churches and various Christian communities throughout the United States. My husband and I have a worship band, and do travel often to various churches around the states. I am a dedicated songwriter, and a digital creator of a YouTube channel that teaches young children how to read, sing and play music. I have taught musical theatre to middle/high school students for almost 6 years! For almost ten years, I have helped schools and churches put on musicals and live performances where I help develop their singing voices, stage presence and build their confidence! I focus mostly on these key things in my more personalized teaching sessions. I love to see my students grow in an area and over time musically.
