Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students are expected to practice their breathing and vocal exercises.Class Experience
Developing vocal control and confidence starts with healthy singing habits. Having one-on-one instruction is helpful to encourage students in their strengths and trouble shoot any problems. Vocal health should be the top priority for singers, but this is so often ignored. Singers only get one voice, so it is important to take care of it! Students at any level are welcome to take lessons. My formal training was classical, and lessons will be taught from that approach. The students do not need to have any previous experience. The lessons will be taught at my piano, just as I would do an in-person lesson. In the first class, we will have introductions and discuss the goals of the student. Each class will begin with breathing and vocal exercises. The goal of these exercises is to increase agility, strength, and vocal range as well as improve posture and form good habits. I will offer advice and suggestions for improvement. Each lesson will be tailored to the needs of the individual student and will progress at their pace. The exercises will be modeled for the student, and then the student will have the opportunity to repeat and receive instruction and helpful evaluation. Students will be taught correct posture whether sitting or standing, breathing techniques, how to control their tone, and vocal agility. Topics such as basic music theory, note reading, and managing stage-fright.
Learning Goals
The students will learn to confidently control their instruments. They will learn how to warm-up their voices before singing and support their singing with proper breath support. Other goals include increasing range, practicing correct posture, and learning to stay on pitch.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from The Crown College
Competing with the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association was the highlight of my high school years. I was first chair 1st soprano in the state competition in 2003. I minored in music in college and have been a part of various chamber singers and choirs. I have recorded in the studio and currently sing weekly at my church. I have led a children's choir and taught private voice lessons for beginners and advanced students alike. I also have experience teaching English as a second language (ESL). I would be happy to accommodate students who are learning English.
