When I began learning ASL in 2006, I never realized the journey it would take me on. It has created a very large passion in my soul that if somebody is going to learn a language, it needs to be learned correctly. Sign Language is a full language all, its own, with its own grammatical structure, hand shapes, classifiers, and so much more. I am an advocate for my deaf friends and family. Because this is a private session class, I will hone in on the learner's needs and work with them to ensure they are grasping concepts, signing and learning structure and other topics correctly. Some topics we will cover: 1. Family and Social signs 2. Food 3. Sports and Recreational Signs 4. Hand shapes, the alphabet, numbers 0-1,000,000 5. Money and Shopping 6. Animals and Nature 7. So much more! Some projects we will work on will deal with deaf technology, fairy tails, and going shopping for food. Learners will be able to record themselves or work through words/topics they are unfamiliar about during class. Each class will be different for each student's level of knowledge, and will include worksheets, a book we work through, games, and small projects to help cement concepts being taught.
