Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
This class is a 30 minutes tutoring session tailored specifically to your student. As a teacher, so many times I see that my students just need to hear a concept explained in a different way or from a different person in order for it to "click". This is your chance to have your student explore the same topics they are studying in school, but with a different instructor.

My expertise is biology and life sciences, so I am especially happy to work with your student on topics like photosynthesis/cellular respiration, genetics, ecology, evolution, or anatomy, but can also help with middle grades physics or chemistry. I also especially enjoy teaching math in context of science.

By working on your student's individual needs, we will create a path to success for your student. This class is best used as a regular commitment so that I can know your student best and tailor my approach to fit them.

What to expect:
1. Before class, please send me any materials your child is working on (study guide, homework, notes, etc). This helps me see the student's level and what their teacher wants them to know.
2. Your student should come prepared with questions or topics that they would like assistance on. We can also complete assignments together. Of course, know that I never do the homework for the child but will guide them in the right direction! We can also review missed questions on past tests or any feedback they have received from their teacher.
3. During sessions, I start a shared Google Doc that we can both look at in real-time. We'll use this document to take notes, add drawings, insert relevant photos and diagrams, etc. This will be a great study resource to use after our session.
4. If sessions are scheduled regularly, I can prepare additional materials like practice worksheets, review games, etc. if desired.

My teaching style is challenging, affirming, and energetic. I absolutely love science and it makes me so happy to see kids master a concept and feel proud of themselves.

Sessions are available by request, usually outside of traditional school hours (Central US time).
Learning Goals
