Homework
1-2 hours per week. There will be homework assignments at the end of each class meet. Student will be asked to share their homework with Ms. Wanda at the beginning of the upcoming classmeet.Assessment
There will be an assessment at the beginning of the classmeets and a written report will be provided each week. The written reports will be used to create developmentally appropriate activities and homework assignments for the following week.Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 3
Students will engage in one-on-one activities that enhance alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, and the development of phonemic awareness. Children will learn to use listening skills to extend their awareness of sounds in words through read-a-louds, nursery rhymes, riddles, poems, games. These skills are needed as children begin to decode words in their reading. I will make learning fun and engaging, yet individualized providing activities children will want to participate in that will help them as they learn their reading skills.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to listen for words that rhyme, alliteration, notice discrete units of sound, phonics concepts and knowledge of word structure to decode text, recognize and name letters and their sounds, and use context clues to comprehend text.

I have over twenty-four years of teaching in an early childhood classroom with six years experience of early childhood consultant. Teaching and engaging with young scholars is my passion. I acknowledge that they all learn differently and modify lesson based on that knowledge. I am a very passionate, upbeat, high-energy teacher. The activities I choose are sure to be fun and engaging, building on each childs experiences. My philosophy of education is that the experiences have to be fun to be memorable. The only way a child is going to remember a lesson is if he/she actively participated.
