Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 3
This private tutoring session will address activities designed for your individual learner. A typical lesson may include : A brief 5-minute "warm-up read" with a text your child will be able to read independently. Next, we will spend 15 minutes on word work. Word-work will include a making words game, sorting words activity, sight words activity, or an onset/ rime manipulation activity. This phonics section can vary from simple CVC words to multi-syllable words with prefixes and suffixes. We will spend the next 10 minutes reading a "new" leveled text on your child's instructional level. Before we read, we will go over the new vocabulary and make some predictions. Your child will then read the new story. After reading, we will spend 5 minutes discussing the book. Finally, we will write for the last 10 minutes. We will work on generating ideas, basic writing skills, and spelling strategies during this time. Again, the lesson content will depend on your particular learner and their needs.
