US Grade Kindergarten - 4

After an initial assessment to find areas of need, lessons will be sequential and systematic. Lessons begin with phonemic awareness, blending and segmenting sounds followed by a visual and auditory drill of letters and sounds. We will do a few minutes of word work, manipulating letters to build words, and then read connected text. Lessons will also include strategies for reading irregular words that cannot be sounded out. Learners will interact with me using slides and whiteboards. In addition, lessons will always include a few minutes of games that will allow for practice of the skill we are working on.

Learning Goals

Students will gain foundational knowledge and skills necessary for proficiency in grade level reading. Students will learn and apply skills necessary for independent reading.

I teach reading and I am a highly qualified, state certified teacher in the USA. I have been working as a reading intervention teacher for over 20 years in a public school and before that I taught in regular and special education classrooms. I am certified to teach grades k through 12 and all subjects. .My mission is to help struggling readers  better comprehend texts and increase their ability to read fluently and with accuracy .I am a life long learner and hope to instill the love of reading and learning in others. 
I am the grandmother of two children ages 8 and 10 and I also enjoy family trips with them. 
In addition to holding a Bachelor of Science degree in education I also hold a Master's degree in Literacy. I love to teach!
