Class Experience

Does your child want to learn how to play piano or want to improve their piano playing technique? If so, this class will provide your child with exceptional playing skills for local performance events or examination requirements. Your child can learn for fun and gain advanced skills in improvisation or simply playing their favorites.
I have taught piano over the last forty years, preparing students for examinations, or university entrance.
I have had the awesome opportunity to help at least two of my prodigy students advance beyond their peers through practicing help, technique improvement and helping children to read and compose music notation for theory exams.
Each student will have a summary after each class sent to the parent or older student as you wish.
I teach each student with a curriculum and teaching style tailored for their learning style.
Books and sheet music will be acquired by parents through online links or a music store in their area.

I use popular lesson books as well as specialized sheets I will upload for parents or students to print.
Student needs a piano of some sort electronic or acoustic rather than a keyboard.
A keyboard can start of the lower grades, but for advanced levels please have an 88 key piano for your child.
If you are using an electronic or digital piano you must look for these features:
Weighted
Touch Sensitive Keys.
Volume control and Three Pedal version. Some Two Pedal Version should suffice but again in the higher grades the child will need three pedal versions.
Learning Goals
This class aims to provide:
Proper foundation for their level so as to advance to next levels easily.
Piano technique
Proper hand positions,
Posture,
Pedaling,
Scales,
Chords,
Examination requirements
Reading and Writing Music Notation,
Composition
Musical Interpretation
Genre Varieties
Where your child is at currently will determine the lesson planning I create for that child as I make things easy for the child as well as inspiring!
At the end of each term, students should normally begin a new level. However, this depends on their grade level, objectives for learning (examinations, performance or enjoyment).

Supply List
Students need a piano or digital piano to take lessons. If they have a keyboard to start that will do for the first few months. Piano playing technique requires a different skill than keyboarding but the information in Levels One and Two will be very helpful for keyboarding as well.
Also a camera that shows their hands on the keyboard is most important. I should be able to see how their hands are positioned.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
