Students will be taught: + proper posture, finger numbers + how to read sheet music in bass and treble clefs + how to play and read basic and complex rhythms + how to play scales, chords, and arpeggios + music history: bringing the music to life! + music theory: why we do what we do! + to play their favourite songs!
I am a classically trained pianist, with an advanced level of expertise in music theory and music history.
I will assign homework that will reinforce the concepts we review in class. If necessary I will also send notes about what the student should practice between lessons. Students are expected to practice for 20 minutes per day, every day, outside of class time.
Students are assessed on a week-to-week basis with notes that follow up our lesson time, and guide their independent practice between lessons
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
