Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Students will improve through these five specific goals:
Music Theory Proficiency: Acquire a solid understanding of music theory, including note reading, key signatures, scales, and chords.
Expressive Interpretation: Learn to infuse emotion and expression into music, conveying feelings and moods through playing.
Passion for Education: Foster an unwavering desire to learn and grow as a pianist, inspiring a lifelong passion for music and continuous self-improvement.
Technique Mastery: Develop excellent hand positioning, finger strength, and control to play with precision and fluidity.
Music Appreciation: Exploring different musical styles and genres will broaden the students' musical horizons and foster a deeper appreciation for music.
Students will be expected to practice and review music found in the assigned workbook. This can take as long as the student prefers, though at least 10 minutes weekly is suggested. New homework and practice pages will be assigned at the end of each class.
Having a working piano is integral for this class. Beginner students are not required to have a damper pedal on their piano, though it is suggested for future advanced use.
Students will use the Faber Faber Piano Adventures curriculum as a work book each week. These books can range from $5-20 based on students level/needs. A link with appropriate level will be sent to purchase after initial lesson.
In private piano classes, the student's progress will be assessed through video performances, music theory quizzes and worksheets, personalized feedback, sight-reading, and review games. Active participation and repertoire building will also contribute to the assessment, fostering a supportive and motivating learning environment.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
During this class, we will refer to and use the Faber Faber Piano Adventures curriculum. More information may be found in the Learners Supply List section.
