Class Experience
Beginners will learn all the basics at the piano, including but not limited to: -posture, finger numbers, keyboard geography -playing with chords and lead sheets -rhythm development -reading music on the treble and bass clef -many theory concepts including key signatures, time signatures, note values, scales, etc. More advanced students will also learn: -scales, chords, inversions, cadences -reading chord charts -reading lead sheets -improvisation -playing by ear -composing music
Mrs. Robyn has a Master's degree in Education with a minor in music. She has been a piano teacher and performer for over 20 years. She is also a composer of piano music. She specializes in making lessons fun and motivating for students as well as inspiring them to create their own music, all for a lifetime of enjoyment on the piano!
In order to progress on the piano and be successful, learners will need to play their piano each day (practice time per day will depend on their level) 10-30 minutes a day, five days a week. When younger beginners are first starting out, they will make progress in the first few weeks by simply playing their songs once per day. As they learn more, they will be playing more. I will always be doing the very best I can to help each student to ENJOY playing and practicing the piano each day!
The student needs either an acoustic piano or an electric keyboard, preferably a full 88-key with weighted keys. Please print the PDFs I will send and place them in a BINDER for the student to bring to class. After we meet 3 or 4 times, I will send a link to the piano book(s) to purchase for your child.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
