1-2 hours per week. Students will be assigned one or two songs each week, a theory page or worksheet, and Sproutbeat games/worksheets. NOTE: Students are expected to read their lesson notes, practice, and complete their theory assignments every week. Parents may need to assist younger students.Assessment
I will provide weekly notes to the student and parent to guide them in their lessons. I will track their theory work through Sproutbeat. Parents can also monitor their progress by logging in to their accounts.Class Experience
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Welcome to my studio! Every student is unique and special to me! My goal is to work with the specific needs and interests of each student to keep them motivated and excited about music! Does your child enjoy movie themes, Disney, jazz, country western? I will assess the student's level of experience to determine which curriculum to use. I usually use the Faber Piano Adventures method, but I also love Alfred's All-in-One Course. I use supplemental teaching materials to teach theory, note-reading, lead sheets, chords and anything else the student would like to learn. I love it when students get excited about songs they hear outside of class, such as in a movie or on YouTube. We always try to work those songs into the lessons as soon as possible to keep every student excited about learning! We begin each lesson with a review of the assignment from the prior week. We advance at the student's pace and always learn something new in every lesson. We will move through the lesson books, learning new songs at the student's pace. I also assign theory in every lesson because it's so important for a well-rounded music education. I use the Sproutbeat website to give students a fun way to reinforce what we learn in class. NOTE: Students are expected to complete their assignments every week! I will post lesson notes at the end of my teaching day. Students must read their lesson notes so they understand what to do each week. Parents will need to assist younger students to help them keep up with their assignments. Recital performances - Students interested in performing in a recital will be invited to our virtual recital! I will schedule a group lesson with several students so everyone has the chance to play one or two special pieces of music. It's a fun way to get students to practice the songs they love and play for other students! Parents are always invited to sit in for the recital too! Please message me with any questions!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to read music in the treble clef and bass clef.
More advanced students will learn rhythm and counting in 3/8, 6/8 and 2/2.
