Beginner - Intermediate Level
Welcome to my studio! Every student is unique and special to me! My goal is to work with the specific needs and interests of each student to keep them motivated and excited about music! Does your child enjoy movie themes, Disney, jazz, country western? I will assess the student's level of experience to determine which curriculum to use. I usually use the Faber Piano Adventures method, but I also love Alfred's All-in-One Course. I use supplemental teaching materials to teach theory,...
The goal for each student depends on what they would like to do with their music education. I have taken on students who want to learn how to play from lead sheets using only chords in the left hand. I have helped students prepare for an audition in the music program at the college level. Most students want to learn to read music so they can play their favorite songs. I work with each student based on their needs.
I am a professional pianist and have been teaching for over 35 years. My resume is attached below for details about my training. In addition, I participate in ongoing professional development courses to keep my teaching skills sharp.
Homework Offered
Students will be assigned one or two songs each week, a theory page or worksheet, and Sproutbeat games/worksheets. NOTE: Students are expected to read their lesson notes, practice, and complete their theory assignments every week. Parents may need to assist younger students.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will provide weekly notes to the student and parent to guide them in their lessons. I will track their theory work through Sproutbeat. Parents can also monitor their progress by logging in to their accounts.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will need a piano or a keyboard with 88-keys (61 keys is acceptable). A lesson book will be assigned after the first class and I will provide a link for you to purchase through Amazon. You can always buy it at your local music store too. Students should always bring a pencil and highlighter to class.
