Class experience
In this weekly ongoing class, learners of all playing levels will have personalized one-on-one instruction at the piano. Students will participate from their own piano or keyboard, and gain confidence as they build new skills at their instrument! Topics that will be taught at a skill-appropriate level include: • Sight reading • Music theory • Healthy piano technique • How to play with musical expression • Repertoire of various musical styles • Scales, arpeggios, and chords • Memorization...
Throughout this course, students will have the opportunity to: • Gain confidence as they improve their piano playing skills • Become better at reading music • Play new repertoire of various styles • Learn about keys, scales, arpeggios, and more music theory • Become expressive musicians • Learn how to break down a piece of music into learnable parts
Students must participate at their own piano or electronic keyboard (weighted keys are ideal). Sheet music will be purchased by the student at the beginning of the course and as they progress to new levels.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Once I know the student's skill level, I will send you links to purchase your own sheet music and music workbooks. The cost of materials varies, but is usually no more than $20-30 to get started.
