Through weekly music instruction and practice, the youngest learners can gradually build knowledge and skills in piano playing. Each lesson will include demonstration, practice and individualized instruction. Learners may use downloadable music or a music curriculum (Faber Piano Adventures) as determined by the parent and teacher. Learners should practice between lessons to facilitate progress. Videos of songs and other resources may be posted to the Outschool classroom as needed to assist...
The learner will identify and demonstrate melodic contour and rhythms by playing simple songs on the piano. MU:Cr1.1.Ka With guidance, explore and experience music concepts (such as beat and -melodic contour). MU:Pr4.2.Ka With guidance, explore and demonstrate awareness of music contrasts (such as high/low, loud/soft, same/different) in a variety of music selected for performance.
Homework assignments will be given at the end of each class and will include songs to practice. Theory homework may be assignment periodically.
Piano or Keyboard Printed handouts or Piano Curriculum Pencil to make notes
Learners will be informally assessed on demonstration of basic piano skills.
