2 in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will focus on you as an individual musician, and proceed according to your individual needs - whether you are a young player picking up sticks for the first time or an experience player getting ready for a college, drum corps, or WGI audition. As such, we will spend most of our first lesson analyzing your playing for strengths and weaknesses, and then developing a plan to move forward that aligns with your goals. Regardless of instrument, we will focus on the following: - rhythmic accuracy and pulse control across a wide variety of rhythmic figures - music reading ability and sight reading techniques - hand technique that safely produces an open and consistent sound while maximizing relaxation and minimizing the risk of injury to the player - implement control across a variety of techniques and stroke types, designed to maintain a relaxed fundamental approach - musicality and ability to handle stylistic variety as a performer
Learning Goals
Your individual goals as a growing musician will dictate the pace of our lessons and what aspects of percussion on which we choose to focus. This class is built around crafting an education that fits you perfectly!

Supply List
The necessary supplies for the course depends on what you want to work on. At a minimum, you will need access to the following: - The instrument you want to learn on - be it snare drum, drumset, keyboard, etc. and appropriate sticks or other implements for that instrument. - An audio and video set up that will allow me to see your hands move and clearly hear both your voice and the sound that your instrument produces - the more flexibility you have with your microphone placement the better so we can adjust to get a good sound. - Access to a screen so I can share exercises with you and you can see them as you play. - A metronome that is loud enough to be heard along with your playing - several free metronome services are available on the internet that could work, depending on your setup.
