Class Experience

In this eight week course, students will have private instruction of painting techniques. Students can decide whether this is for Acrylic, Watercolors, or Oil paints. I will also give the option to break the course into sections to include a combination or all three mediums, if the student wishes to learn. Lessons will be planned based on individual students' skill level. During the first lesson, we will discuss the current knowledge and skill level the student possesses, and what personal goals the student has for learning painting. We will also discuss what subject matter and art style the student is most artistically gravitated towards. After this initial consultation, we will begin practicing basic techniques such as priming, color mixing, blending, texture, and rendering.

During the following lessons of the course, we will continue practicing techniques at the student's pace and in accordance to the student's artistic interests. These can include but are not limited to, painting people, portraits, landscapes, 3-dimensional objects, painting abstract, or creating mixed media collages. The goal of this course is to not only assist students with practical and effective painting techniques, but to also help guide in finding student's artistic vision and personal art style. As students practice more paintings, they will soon discover they have their own unique style that they can incorporate with techniques they are learning. Additional resources such as famous artists, art history, and references to famous art styles/movements will be provided based on student interest in certain art styles.

Learning Goals

Students will learn more in depth on painting techniques through one-on-one instruction, as well as be given the opportunity to explore their own art styles. Students may choose either Acrylic, Oils, Watercolor paints, or a combination of all three mediums.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, my name is Brittany Lambert and I'm an artist teaching what I love to do.. ART!

I've been an artist most of my life, mainly focusing on drawing and painting. I earned my BA in Art in 2018, and am currently attending graduate school to become a full time art teacher. I currently live in Southern California, where I enjoy some of my favorite hobbies such as going to the beach, hiking, and of course, creating art!

I teach the basics of drawing, painting, and art theory through fun, simple projects that kids can enjoy. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to encourage students to understand how art is so much more than just learning techniques and creating masterpieces. Art is about exploring yourself as an individual and the world as a whole! I teach on Outschool to provide students a creative outlet where they can let loose, have fun, practice their skills, learn A LOT, and put forth their own ideas by expressing their artistic voice. I want students to grow knowing their ideas matter. After all, isn't that the point of creativity?! :)
