Class Experience
Discover the Joy of Reading with Private Orton-Gillingham Tutoring for ESL Learners! Join me for engaging and personalized 1:1 tutoring sessions that help students become confident readers. These lessons are perfect for ESL learners who want to improve their English reading, spelling, and phonics skills while building a strong foundation for language success. In our 30-minute sessions, students will participate in fun and interactive multi-sensory activities that engage their senses and make learning English enjoyable. We will focus on mastering phonics, spelling, reading, and essential sight words, all tailored to your child’s individual needs and learning pace. Flexible Scheduling: We meet twice a week for 30 minutes each, offering focused and efficient learning. If your child requires more or fewer sessions, feel free to contact me, and we can customize the schedule to meet their needs. A Proven Method for Success: Our lessons follow the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, step-by-step, and multi-sensory method proven to support reading and writing development. By breaking down English into manageable steps, students steadily build confidence and skills. Each week, they’ll discover new letter sounds, practice reading, and reinforce what they’ve learned in a fun and supportive environment. Perfect for All Learners: This tutoring is especially beneficial for children who are new to English or struggling with reading. I create a nurturing atmosphere where learners can develop their phonemic awareness, comprehension, and fluency skills at their own pace. Assessment to Personalize Learning: Our first session includes a detailed assessment to determine your child’s starting point. For younger learners (such as kindergarten students), I assess their phonological awareness, alphabet recognition, and sound naming. For older students, I consider their reading background to ensure the lessons are just right for them. Weekly Structure: First Session of the Week: Introduction/Check-in (share something fun or interesting) Three-Part Drill (review letters and sounds using visual, auditory, and tactile methods) Vowel Practice (if needed for short vowels) Review of previous concepts New concept (hands-on activities and practice) Fluency/Comprehension (reading leveled texts or poems) Second Session of the Week: Introduction/Check-in Three-Part Drill (reinforce previous lessons) Vowel Practice (if needed) Review of previous concepts Sight Words Practice ("Red Words") Fluency/Comprehension (reading leveled texts or poems) Note: Students will begin with foundational letters like C, O, A, and D, and activities will build as their skills grow. Enroll your child today and watch their confidence soar as they unlock the power of English reading. Together, we’ll open the door to a lifetime of learning and enjoyment!
