Class Experience

This is a summer enrichment course designed to prepare students entering into High School Physics. Students learn about concepts, how to set up problems and solve for common topics of physics. Students will engage with the teacher through virtual simulations, problem-solving, and critical thinking on challenging concepts in physics. The sequence of the topics follows a typical High School Physics class. Students are guided on how to take notes, read and set up problems, and interpret results. It's a course to give the student insight into what a teacher looks for on homework and exams and after completion the student should make an easier transition into the upcoming academic year. Homework problems are provided to reinforce learning.

Topics covered include:

One-dimensional motion (distance, instantaneous and average speed and velocity, coordinate systems, free fall problems)

Two-dimensional motion- Introduction to vectors and free body diagrams, two-dimensional motion, angled forces and inclined planes, projectiles, role of friction

Uniform circular motion - motion in a circle, acceleration in a circular motion

Gravitational forces

Work, energy, and power (Introducing Machines)

Inelastic and Elastic collisions, center of mass, momentum

Rotational motion - torque and angular momentum, rotational inertia, rotational kinetic energy, angular impulse

Simple harmonic motion - pendulum and spring mass systems

Types of waves

Beats and Interference of sound

Static electricity

Circuits - Series and Parallel resistors

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I have experience teaching middle and high school math and science. My favorite courses to teach are enrichment courses in which I prepare your child for upcoming courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Math (Prealgebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra 1 and 2, and Precalculus). As a college professor, I know what it takes to prepare your high school junior and seniors for AP exams and to develop study skills to excel.
