Description
Class Experience
Students will: -identify sight words/high frequency words -use sight words within complete sentences -identify vowel sounds and teams within words -use vowel sounds and teams to spell words within a complete sentence -identify different word families -use word families to spell words within a complete sentence
All of our teachers hold Bachelor degrees. All of our teachers are proficient with teaching preschool and elementary level phonics. All of our teachers receive training bi-weekly on how to improve virtual instruction for students of all learning styles. All of our teachers received a 2-hour professional development session on addressing social-emotional learning themes during lessons.
Students are expected to review their sight words/high frequency words every night for at least 5 minutes.
REQUIRED: -Writing/Notebook Paper ($1.00) -Pencils ($1.00)
Students will be assessed informally. Teachers will provide notes in the classroom post or via messages to the parent/caregiver about the progress the student made and recommendations for next steps instructionally.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
There are no sensitive topics addressed within this class.
We are using a part of the list of Fountas and Pinnell's high frequency words and spelling patterns.
