Teacher expertise and credentials
Health Equity and Literacy, The Print Project™ brings evidence-based, systematic, high efficacy literacy instruction to learners all throughout the world. We translate research into practice by ensuring equitable education for ALL children with a focus on literacy in ALL content areas.
Literacy is the foundational skill that unlocks the doors to learning all throughout life while paving the way to attaining health equity. Yet, 1 in 4 children grow up without learning to read and significant racial/ethnic and gender achievement gaps persist. In the United States, 43 million adults have low literacy skills and 8.4 million are considered illiterate. Worldwide, 773 million adults are illiterate, and the majority are women.
We are on a mission to change this. In 2017, our founder, Dr. Katharine Hawkes, launched a literacy pilot program targeting children during their most critical years. Today, this program has reached children in 42 countries by making measurable progress in their literacy skills.
Course offerings include our literacy program, English Language Arts courses and courses that integrate literacy into STEM/STEAM preparing youth for futures in science, technology, engineering, and math while fostering their creativity through the arts.
Our courses and instruction are based on equity pedagogy. All instructors are trained in DEI, cultural competence, anti-racism and disability justice. Our classroom environment is inclusive to all learners regardless of gender, identity, race/ethnicity, culture, disability, and socio-economic status.
We wholeheartedly believe in positive reinforcement and we commit to uplifting young minds by providing them space to be seen and heard.
