Homework
2-4 hours per week. Students will be expected to practice regularly through out the week. For young beginners, I recommend the practice time will start from 15-30 minutes/5 days a week.Class Experience
Welcome to my piano studio. I truly believe that music makes children's lives colorful and uplifts their spirits! Throughout this ongoing course, we will work on proper hand position, finger number, rhythm, how to read music from the music sheet and learn lots of musical terms and knowledge. I integrate multiple ways of study, such as music theory games, movement songs, and fun activities to ensure the students do not get bored of the routine practice. I also believe that the ensemble experience is very important to a student who wants to become a pianist. After students have learned a piece, and I'll play duet with them during their lesson. This is a great opportunity to emphasize the skills that are difficult to work on in a solo lesson. A lesson will typically start with a review of the materials that we've learned from the previous lesson. We will also play games or sing songs to help the students to be more familiar with those music concepts and pieces. New music concepts will be introduced in each lesson, depending on the progress of the student. If there is any pieces that you are interested in, I am always welcome to discuss it. Basic music concepts will be introduced each week, such as: High & Low sounds Finger Numbers Dynamic (loud & soft sounds) Rhythm & Beats (quarter notes, half notes, whole notes) Treble Clef & Bass Clef ect...

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I'm Teacher Alice and welcome to my class. I completed my Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance at the New England Conservatory, Boston and received the Master and Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Before I came to the US, I lived in my hometown, Taiwan for 20 years. I've attended to music schools and received professional musical training, since I was 8 years old.
I’d been a private piano instructor for students age 4 to 18 for many years. I like to use Faber Piano Adventures method book for my young beginners, but I also use different materials from many other books, such us Leila Fletcher, Beyer, and John Thompson. We work on proper hand position, finger number, how to read music from the music sheet and learn lots of musical terms and knowledge. I also taught private piano lesson in Mandarin Chinese. I love to teach young beginners but I welcome students of all levels, from beginners to those who wish to prepare for college-level auditions. I was also a classroom assistant for early childhood music classes, with students age 3 to 5. During that time, I was able to engage my learning from Dalcroze Eurhythmics Pedagogy. With me playing the piano, I love to incorporate singing with movement and use our whole bodies to explore the rhythm, pitch, tempo in music.
I believe that music makes our lives colorful and uplifts our spirits! Let's have fun and enjoy it together. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
