This class is taught in English.
The student will gain skills in reading music, technical proficiency on their instruments, goal oriented practice routines and music listening skills.
Andrew has been performing professionally for 30 years and has produced 9 albums of original music in that time. He achieved his B.F.A. in Music Performance from the New School University in New York City, where he focussed on composition and performance. Andrew has been teaching music for over 20 years throughout the United States.
Students are encouraged to practice the assigned songs and exercises every week. Daily practice will greatly improve the student's progress, confidence and overall enjoyment. An absolute minimum of 20 minutes of practice a day, 5-6 days a week is essential for the learner to grow in skill and knowledge.
Piano (see above); woodwind instrument in playable condition, mouthpiece (for clarinet and saxophone), reeds (two or more), ligature, neck strap, cleaning swab, instructional book (please have your school band book or any other music book you would like to learn from. The learner's progress will be heard through the songs that I assign and their increase in musicianship. I will give an informal assessment at the end of every month.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
