Description
Class Experience
Students will choose a topic of interest in the field of music and learn more concepts related to that field. Students will receive one-on-one instruction to further their knowledge of music.
As a teacher and as a musician, I have a diverse skill set in many areas that I will be pulling from. These include: -Playing an instrument and reading music (20 yrs experience) -Conducting (I have managed a middle school band program) -Researching music history/culture (several academic papers and graduate music conferences) -Improvising/Ear Training/Listening (jazz studies minor during my undergraduate degree program) -Composing/Music Theory (master’s in music composition, several commissions and residencies) -Audio and beat production with digital audio workstations (countless years of self-learned experience)
Each week, I will give the student a project or exercise to work on to further their musical abilities.
This will be discussed with the student prior to their lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have accumulated a wealth of materials over the years from many sources, including my education (2 college degrees in music), my teaching experience (10 years as a public school music teacher), and my professional music colleagues (attending the Michigan Music Conference for the past 5 years).
