Students will choose a topic of interest in the field of music and learn more concepts related to that field.  Students will receive one-on-one instruction to further their knowledge of music.

As a teacher and as a musician, I have a diverse skill set in many areas that I will be pulling from.  These include:

-Playing an instrument and reading music (20 yrs experience)
-Conducting (I have managed a middle school band program)
-Researching music history/culture (several academic papers and graduate music conferences)
-Improvising/Ear Training/Listening (jazz studies minor during my undergraduate degree program)
-Composing/Music Theory (master’s in music composition, several commissions and residencies)
-Audio and beat production with digital audio workstations (countless years of self-learned experience)

Each week, I will give the student a project or exercise to work on to further their musical abilities.

30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

I have accumulated a wealth of materials over the years from many sources, including my education (2 college degrees in music), my teaching experience (10 years as a public school music teacher), and my professional music colleagues (attending the Michigan Music Conference for the past 5 years).
