Thank you for choosing me as your music teacher! I consider it a great privilege to be entrusted with sharing the gift of music with your child and I look forward to helping them on their own musical journey. For most families, I am the only other adult who spends regularly scheduled time alone with your child. I have been teaching for over 10 years and I know how important this relationship is in a child’s life and in many cases I make a lasting impression on your child. Everyone always remembers his or her private music teachers! I sure do! Regularity of practice and good concentration during practice times are absolutely essential to good progress. Please set a definite period for practice, and see that your child has privacy while practicing. Lessons will be thirty minutes. Firstly, we will warm-up our instrument and bodies with exercises and light drills. Each week I will provide a personalized one on one experience for your child's music learning. With each meeting, we will construct a music book. It is important that your child can download, print or view online, the documents from our lessons. I expect your child to have a quiet space for noise making and creative music playing during our scheduled meetings. After our warm-up, we will briefly discuss music theory elements that relate to the songs we've chosen together for playing. My goal with each lesson is to build upon a foundational understanding of music notation so that your child can grow with their curiosity and learning at their own pace. I am adaptable and I ask that my students exercise the same brain power.
Learning Goals
Students will improve upon their understanding of music theory and their instrument(s). They will demonstrate technique and perform musical pieces.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Portland State University
Making smiles and laughter is my favorite thing to do. I enjoy working with children who are invested in their learning and committed to kindness.
Growing up I was quick to tell stories with puppets, toys, siblings, music, and comedy. As an adult I have found a way to combine all this fun by being a remote, online teacher! My classes are joyous, interactive, expressive, and energetic.
My specialties lie in public speaking, singing, performance, music, ESL, and literacy. I have four years experience as an elementary school classroom teacher. I am currently a music coach and lead singer of a Portland, Oregon-based Blondie tribute band, Glass of Hearts. I acquired my Masters Degree of Education from Portland State University. I am an active and enthusiastic member of the Portland Reading Council & the Oregon State Literacy Association.
+ Costumes are highly encouraged for ANY class.
