Class Experience

This course is for Minecraft Java Edition (on PC, Mac, and Linux desktop or laptop computers) and for Bedrock Edition (compatible with Game Consoles, iPads or other mobile devices). 

This ongoing class is for any and all students with an interest in Minecraft. No background knowledge is required.
Here are some benefits to Minecraft:
* Creativity: Anything is possible in the Minecraft world. So, the imagination is free to create.
* Problem-solving: Environmental challenges and the building process help to develop and sharpen problem-solving skills.
* Math and Engineering: Some examples are architecture, engineering, and geometry. Redstone offers electrical and computer engineering skills.
* Focus: Some projects can take days. Whether it is a short term goal or long term goal, concentration is needed and used often.
* Teamwork: Working on projects together help to build collaboration skills.
* Confidence: Learners are free to make mistakes and learn from them without pressure which encourages exploration and experimentation.

Here are the topics covered each week:
Week 1: Keyboard controls, video orientation, survival mode vs. creative mode
Week 2: Basic survival skills
Week 3: Creative mode with unlimited resources/ unlimited possibilities
Week 4: Survival mode with gathering resources efficiently
Week 5: Basic Redstone
Week 6: Redstone contraptions

Class Structure:
This will follow the I do, We do, You Do model.

1. The first part of class will be introducing the elements and showing students how they work (I Do).
2. The middle part of class will be the students exploring the elements (We Do). 
3. The last part of class will be the students building a project using a few or all of the elements (You Do). 

** This world exists on a teacher-hosted Minecraft Realm. So, parents can be reassured that only approved learners can have access to the world. 

** Parents will be need to send me their child's Minecraft User Name so that I can give them access to the realm. 

** Verbal communication takes place through the Zoom app. So learners will need to make sure not to turn it off.

* A Minecraft Java Edition or Bedrock Edition account must be purchased by the learner's parents.
* Parent will be need to send me their child's Minecraft screen name so that I can give them access to the world. 
* Verbal communication takes place through the Zoom app. So learners will need to make sure not to turn Zoom off.
