Description
Class Experience
I believe success in math depends on a child's ability to not only understand numerical concepts, but to be able to apply those strategies to problems by using mathematical thinking. My approach is to give students the tools they need to be able to solve problems, and then allow them to experiment, fail, and try again until they get the answer. We work on developing strategies, understanding relationships, and building confidence. As I tell my students, there is always one right answer in...
Students progress through the Dimensions Math program at their own pace. Each student will have individual goals to work on.
I have been teaching for over 20 years. My approach is always to meet the student where they are and continue forward from there.
Students will be given workbook pages to practice on days we do not meet. Depending on the child and their abilities, students will receive homework 1-3 days each week.
Dimensions Workbook, available here for $12: https://www.singaporemathshop.com/Dimensions_Math_s/219.htm Depending on their working level, students may need connecting cubes, place value blocks (tens & ones), place value discs. Once they are placed in a math level, I will let you know exactly what materials they will need.
Students are assessed by in class discussion, activities, and workbook assignments. By request, I will provide a written evaluation for each student.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
