US Grade 4 - 7
This is a private session designed to help students that want take a deeper dive into specific math concepts. Sessions are designed with specific goals in mind and will take into account the students particular learning style. Typically, these sessions are scheduled by request and after a discussion or understanding of the students goals. If you are interested in a Private Math Lesson, please send an email request to Professor P via the "teacher" link included in this listing. Learning goal will vary depending on the students need and will be discussed and agreed upon prior to scheduling the first session. Example class topics and themes are listed below:

1) Fractions – review operations with fractions including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing (operations with fractions are commonly used in evaluating and solving algebraic equations).

2) Negative Numbers – continue to review and work with negative numbers to build proficiency. Negative numbers are the most common operation when working with Algebraic Equations.

3) Exponents and Roots – understand the basic principle behind exponents and roots. Practice with concrete examples and application to real-life situations.

4) Word Problems – a primary focus will be placed on interpreting word problems with increased complexity. We will cover a 4-step method for solving word problems with a focus on understanding and interpreting real-life scenerios to create and solve equations.

Learning Goals

Tutoring begins with a gap assessment to identify specific areas of focus for your student. Once the gap assessment is complete, individual learning goals will be discussed and developed.

I have been teaching math for 24 years. My experience ranges from practical math to Algebra, Geometry and beyond. Teaching students with IEPs and special needs has helped me become a better instructor by learning to effectively teach students with different learning styles.

I believe learning concepts along with facts and formulas is the bridge to success. Students’ confidence increases significantly when they can apply a formula and actually understand what is being taught. My greatest reward comes when a student's eyes light up because they finally ā€œget itā€! Math is Fun!
