Welcome parents and learners! I am Ms. Amy. In this ongoing class, we will meet once a week to learn to speak Mandarin and read and write simplified Chinese. I will tailor lessons to your student's interests and needs. Please feel free to bring your materials or assignments to our class. You can also let me know if there are certain areas you would like specialized practice in so that I can identify some useful materials for us to work with together. We will work on learning pronunciation, high-frequency characters and expressions, language skills for communication, practicing writing Chinese characters and reading sentences and texts at the appropriate level. Each class will be specific to the student's proficiency and needs, this is an example of typical topics covered in each lesson: Week 1: Greetings, Pinyin, tones, stokes, Numbers1-5 Week 2: Greetings, Numbers6-10 My name is ____ Week 3: Numbers 11-15, I'm 11 years old Week 4: Numbers 16-20, Me and my family live in ____( country ). Week 5: My Family 1 Week 6: My Family 2 Week 7: Dates 1 Week 8: Dates 2 Week 9: My pets Week 10: Animals Week 11: Colors Week 12: My closet, clothing Week 13: My hobby Week 14: Sports Week 15: My home Week 16: Summer break class time breakdown: 10 min - review what we learned through conversations or fun activities using flashcards, pictures, Zoom whiteboard, etc. 20 min - learn new materials like Pinyin, characters, terms and phrases, sentences, practice writing characters and short sentences, etc. 10 min - review what we learned in conversation or Picture Talk. I kindly ask you to give me a short note about your Chinese language skills and needs so that I can be more prepared and make the learning more efficient.

Hello! Thank you so much for showing interest in my classes. I am Ms. Amy. I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker. I have multiple degrees in languages and literature.
I have more than 10 years of teaching experience in different levels of Chinese to students from kindergarten to university. I offer one-on-one and private lessons for students learning Mandarin Chinese. I have also tutored students in IB Chinese language B, Mandarin ab initio, and AP Chinese language and culture.
I apply communicative teaching strategies to encourage learners to engage in learning activities based on their language skills, topics of interest and individually tailored materials.
