Class Experience

In these private, ongoing Japanese lessons, class is entirely designed to the student's interests, level of Japanese, and language goals. Students will have the opportunity to learn Japanese in a one-on-one setting with the teacher, with class material completely tailored to their goals, be it working towards achieving Japanese language speaking fluency, learning how to read and write Japanese, practice translating their favorite works (manga, anime, etc.) from Japanese into English, etc. Open to all levels of Japanese experience. As these are private lessons, please contact the teacher to inquire about scheduling/availability.

Students will meet in a one-on-one setting with the teacher for two sessions each week. The focus of each session will vary based on the goals of the student, but typically one session will focus more on grammar/listening/speaking and the other on vocabulary/reading/writing. Again, this will be adjusted to meet the student's language level and interests, but regardless the two sessions each week will be designed to build off one another within the week as well as from week to week, so it is recommended that students sign up for at least 6-8 weeks to progress in achieving their goals.

In-class activities such as games, conversation role-playing (i.e. practicing ordering at a restaurant, etc.), listening to Japanese songs or clips of Japanese films/television series to practice listening comprehension, etc. will be utilized in class as appropriate.

Assuming this is the first time the student has taken a Japanese language class with the teacher, the very first session will be focused on assessing language level and determining what the student's goals/interests are in these private Japanese lessons.
