Homework
2-4 hours per week. Each learner will be expected to work on their own projects during the week.Assessment
New stitches learned and completed projects will be informally assessed according to the neatness of the stitches and the consistency of the gauge.Class Experience
In this one-on-one course, learners will have the ability to ask specific questions about anything knitting related. They will be supported in whatever projects they are currently working on, or they will be instructed on how to get started in their knitting. This is a space for knitters to flourish in their skill, whether they be beginners or experienced. No previous experience is needed, as this class is meant to meet the learner wherever they are in their knitting journey. The learner will be able to see my hands as they observe the correct way to make new stitches. They can copy exactly what they see as we discuss the methods and practice the techniques. For beginner learners, casting on stitches to the needle and understanding the knit stitch are the first skills that will be taught and practiced. For intermediate learners, we will review the two main stitches in knitting, the knit and the purl, and then we will move on to manipulating these two stitches in ways that create fun and exciting fabrics. For advanced knitters, we will discuss ways we can use knowledge of knitting stitches to design our own projects and create patterns. In all levels, projects will be recommended that are appropriate for each level. The practice of new skills learned will be encouraged by completing these recommended projects or by completing projects requested by the student.
Learning Goals
Learners will be encouraged to expand their knitting skills and learn something new and challenging. They put these new skills into practice by completing a project over time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a knitter for over 30 years and have been a knitwear designer for about 6 years. I have taught many students the joys of knitting. I enjoy encouraging learners to take on challenges and to try new skills in their knitting. My favorite thing about teaching knitting is seeing the confidence that comes from accomplishing a goal or overcoming a difficulty.
