Class Experience

US Grade 1
Beginner Level
Bonjour, Outschool families and learners! In this ongoing French instruction class, learners will have the opportunity to practice basic, introductory French , as well as writing and reading skills. I am an experienced French speaker and want to help students practice their skills so they can be understood in real world social settings.

Using teacher made materials, a wide range of French topics will be taught but include the following: colors, animals, numbers, hobbies, school, sports, calendar related items, holidays, greetings, weather, and neighborhood/city information.

I believe the best instruction is student centered, and I am always willing to tailor instruction so it meets the learner at their appropriate level. I am happy to make adjustments to better serve the student at any time.

Before beginning this class, parents should be prepared to share what level of French experience their child has, if any.
This is an ongoing class so students are welcome to come and go for lessons at any time. I will be assessing student progress and providing weekly progress reports.

Classes will be on the following upcoming dates and cover the listed topics:

Week of Oct.7- Letters A-M, Greeting of Hello
Week of Oct. 14- Letters N-Z, Greeting of Goodbye
Week of Oct. 21- Letters Review, Introduction of Name
Week of Oct. 28- Numbers 1-10, Color Red
Week of Nov. 4- Numbers 11-20, Color Blue
Week of Nov. 11- Numbers 1-20 Review, Color White

I strive to create a supportive and positive classroom environment. I look forward to seeing your child in the classroom! A bientot!
Ms. Kristi

Hello! I am so excited to teach your kiddos on Outschool! I have a degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching over 20 years. I also have a specialty Montessori certificate in grades 1-3, and a TESOL certification credential. For nine years I specialized as a learning Title I learning support teacher with a focus in reading and writing in the language arts curriculum with 5-9 year olds. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade in a Montessori classroom. I love helping children learn to read by teaching the fundamental skills of early reading, grammar and writing. I also teach many cultures themed lessons for learners where we can enjoy exploring topics of our planet and space together!
I love to help children learn and be successful in the classroom through fun and engaging activities. I like to make classes challenging and rewarding for students, and I have a very student centered approach, which is aligned with the Montessori teaching philosophy. I think of myself as a guide, who always strives to meet children at their instructional level.
Outside of teaching, I am a mother of adult boy/girl twins. My husband and I have a senior rescue terrier named Sandy and we love to go for long walks. I also enjoy living a very healthy lifestyle which includes walking, hiking, yoga, running and enjoying nature whenever possible!
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about me. I hope to see your child in the classroom soon!
