Private lessons are a great way to improve your technique on your instrument. Unlike group classes, private lessons are specifically tailored to your needs as a developing musician. Students will learn how to play their instrument (guitar, ukulele or bass guitar). Learning goal will vary week to week and progress as the student gains experience.
I have a bachelors and masters degree in music education. I have been teaching music in public and private schools for over 15 years. I am also a professionally working musician on several instruments in a variety of styles. My first instrument was the bass guitar, which I continue to actively play. The bass is such a fun instrument and the unsung hero of any band! I have been playing guitar for almost as long and play in an acoustic pop music duo, expanding my skills and repertoire constantly. I have been playing ukulele for less time, but naturally gravitated towards the instrument as a perfect meeting of my other two instruments (chords from guitar and 4 string plucking technique from bass!)
It is recommended students practice as close to daily as possible. I find it is better to practice for 5-10 minutes a day than it is to practice once a week for 2 hours. The musical brain works best in small chunks....what was very difficult to play yesterday comes a lot easier today!
