Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students should try to practice at least 15 minutes a day for at least 4 days a week. Students can practice the material learned in class using techniques, tabs and chords charts used in their lessons.Class Experience
Private guitar lessons for beginner to intermediate players. Students will learn chords, rhythms, tabs and fingerpicking used across genres in music today. Students will learn chords using a combination of tabs and demonstration. Students are welcome to suggest songs they would like to learn, or just work on material I suggest. Beginners will learn popular chords and basic rhythms so they can start their guitar journey and begin to play songs. Intermediate students can expand their knowledge and begin to learn tabs and finger picking technique. These lessons will give students the tools to continue their guitar journey beyond the class, with the skills to be able to learn on their own. No previous knowledge is required for this course, just a passion for learning music! If you don't see a time that works for you, please feel free to reach out and we'll make it work!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University Of Northern Colorado
Hello everyone! My name is Selena Tibert and I live in New York City where I work as a theatre artist, musician and nanny.
I teach classes about various topics in music and theatre such as: guitar technique, piano technique, musical theatre, songwriting, acting classes and more!
I have been working with kids for a long time and I love seeing their faces light up with joy when they learn something new and exciting. As a teacher I strive to instill a sense of wonder and fun when it comes to theatre and music. Education should be universal, so I make sure to try multiple approaches to give each child the same opportunity to grow! Along with teaching technique, I love to encourage creativity so everyone can learn from each other and create together!
Something fun about me: I grew up near the ocean, where I saw many orca whales and porpoise's on a daily basis!
