Homework

4+ hours per week. I'll give students something to practice for the next lesson each time we meet. How long it takes really depends on the student's level of playing, what they are learning, and how fast they want to progress. 1 hour, 5 days a week is ideal for students who want to become skilled at guitar. Every student is different and it's normal to take time and effort to master a new skill. I do my best to encourage my students along the way!

Assessment

If a student chooses to sign up for continuous lessons, I evaluate them based on individual improvement. Each lesson, I will give students skills to practice for the next lesson. Once a student has mastered a skill, I'll teach them what's next. I ask my students to practice consistently in order to improve. If a student practices but isn't able to master a new skill in a week, that is completely okay and normal. In music, everyone has skills that come more easily to them or that are more difficult for them. This is the advantage of individual lessons, each student get's to move at their own pace! For parents, if you have a student who needs accountability and would like to receive assessments from me on their progress (if they are practicing, etc.), please let me know and I am happy to do so! I can't force students to practice, but I'm happy to establish good communication with parents to help my students succeed.

Class expectations
⭐️Come to every class with your guitar tuned (see 'materials' section)
⭐️Fingernails need to be cut short enough to press down on the strings with the fingertips- no exceptions
⭐️Come to class with a positive attitude, ready to learn
⭐️Practice weekly and to see improvement. Each student's success depends on what they are willing to put in.

Please turn on 'original sound for musicians' under Zoom audio settings before the first class. This helps me be able to hear the guitars and give your student the best possible lesson experience.

Learning Goals

I ask students to practice each week for a minimum of 1 hour a day for five days a week.  The goal is to practice the skills we work on in each lesson to keep improving!
