In this ongoing class, I will be working one-on-one with your learner to provide French curriculum and assistance to suit their own individual needs as French language learners. I am a certified French Immersion teacher in Canada and have worked with young students for 6 years learning French in the classroom. Each learner has different strengths and needs and I will be adapting all lessons accordingly. We will begin by assessing your learner on the first class in regards to communication, listening, reading and writing. Moving forward, I will create a curriculum suitable for your learner in French for all 4 areas of language acquisition (speaking, listening, reading, writing) including vocabulary and grammar. As this is a tutoring class for beginners, we will be following a curriculum of beginner's French as outlined in the following themes: * Curriculum may vary depending on the learners acquisition throughout the lessons. This is not a rigid schedule. If the learner needs more time on a topic or area of skill, we will direct our class accordingly. Week 1: Greetings, introducing oneself Week 2: Letters (ABC's) Week 3: Numbers 1-10 Week 4: Colours Week 5: Calendar (days of the week, months of the year) Week 6: Seasons Week 7: Family, introducing family members Week 8: Animals Week 9: School Week 10: Food Throughout the lessons, we will be learning through slide-shows, songs, reading materials, and activities. I will be providing some additional handouts to learners to complete outside of class time. My goal for learners is to engage in communication as much as they are comfortable with. That being said, an active participation in the lesson is always encouraged! ***We are only using recourses in a screen-share. Note to parents: if class openings do not work with your schedule, please send me a message with requested days/times and I will try my best to accommodate accordingly.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello families! My name is Edria and I am a certified teacher from Ontario, Canada! I have 8 years of teaching experience in the classroom and online education.
I have a degree in Psychology and French studies, with a specialization in teaching French. I began my teaching career in French as a Second Language (Core French) in middle school and transitioned into teaching French Immersion to Grade 1's. Outside the classroom, I have had the opportunity to work abroad, teaching and mentoring Canadian students during film productions. In 2020, I co-founded a Nonprofit Organization that provides free computer programming and English courses to children and youth in need. I believe that education is a right, and it must be accessible to all.
I have a great passion for languages! I am currently learning German and Greek (simultaneously!). I speak English, French, and Albanian. I believe that learning a new language can be daunting and exciting at the same time. That is why my teaching philosophy is to remain adaptable and flexible for each student's needs, creating a safe environment for them to participate and learn with ease. Learning should be fun and engaging, and I strive my best to create a space where my students are enjoying their learning experience.
In addition to languages, my other passion is to travel and learn about different cultures and food. I am also an animal lover and have a cat that walks on a leash! I take great pride and joy in taking care of animals. Some of my classes are even catered towards cat lovers!
I look forward to meeting you soon and learning together!
