Class Experience
If the student does not have homework or specific work to do, or has no previous experience, I love to begin with teaching the simple introduction phrases such as name, age, city of origin because it can be useful. It is also very rewarding for students because it can be learn rapidly. It builds up my students confidence in no time! :) Followingly, students can choose between different activities such as "A night at the restaurant", "Walking in a new City" or "Let's go to the Market" where we role-play different situations to learn new vocabulary. I use A LOT of props because I try to use as little English as possible. I have been teaching ESOL students for over ten years and know that many English and French words can sound similar so I often demonstrate an item say the word in French and the student will automatically understand the meaning, repeat the word, and naturally memorize it.
There is no specific homework, but if we work on adjectives, for example, I can provide additional activities so that the student review at a later time.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
