Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be assigned practice time according to their level - beginners 10-15 minutes 5 times a week; intermediates 30 minutes 5 times as week; advanced - an hour five times a week covering technical studies, etudes, solos and other works.Assessment
The student will track his or her progress by using a practice journal and setting goals on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.Class Experience
Students will meet with the teacher in a pre-lesson Zoom chat to discuss books and materials. Students will study the tried and true methods of improving on the flute according to their level: Beginners - method book, solos, duets Intermediates - method book, solos, duets, etudes Advanced - etudes, technical studies, solos, duets and orchestral studies. Advanced students are especially encouraged to prepare to do a recital or some other type of public performance because this concentrates the lessons and makes them more targeted and helps the student progress at a faster rate.
Learning Goals
Students will work to advance from beginning to intermediate to advanced levels. Advanced level students may want to work on preparing an audition to use in gaining entrance into a college music program.
